Veracity

Veracity
Veracity

A breathtaking near-future thriller. From the NY Times bestselling author whose books have sold more than a million copies.

What if you developed a technology that made it impossible for anyone to lie? About anything. Would this save humanity from itself? Or would it tear society apart? And just how far would power players around the globe go to stop it?

Elias Gibson has invented a technology that will profoundly change the essence of human behavior. But will this lead to a glorious future, or to the collapse of civilization? Before Elias can answer this question, he finds himself battling for his very survival, and racing to uncover the identities and motives of the treacherous forces arrayed against him. As he fights to stay alive, he will be stunned by one extraordinary revelation after another.

But the biggest surprise is yet to come . . .

Veracity is a roller-coaster ride of a thriller. One that offers meticulously researched insights into both human nature and the future of the human race.

The Midnight Library: A Novel

July 10, 2023 by Melanie Leave a Comment

Suicide is a difficult subject to tackle, but Matt Haig does it brilliantly and sensitively in this book. His language is simple but efficient. The text seeps beneath the skin, and tugs at every emotion. I cried lots. – Amazon Review

The Midnight Library: A Novel

The New York Times bestselling WORLDWIDE phenomenon

Winner of the Goodreads Choice Award for Fiction | A Good Morning America Book Club Pick | Independent (London) Ten Best Books of the Year

“A feel-good book guaranteed to lift your spirits.”—The Washington Post

The dazzling reader-favorite about the choices that go into a life well lived, from the acclaimed author of How To Stop Time and The Comfort Book.

Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better?

In The Midnight Library, Matt Haig’s enchanting blockbuster novel, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision. Faced with the possibility of changing her life for a new one, following a different career, undoing old breakups, realizing her dreams of becoming a glaciologist; she must search within herself as she travels through the Midnight Library to decide what is truly fulfilling in life, and what makes it worth living in the first place.

Fated Blades

May 20, 2023 by Melanie Leave a Comment

I love a good romance especially when there’s a strong story line as well and even better, a power balance between the love interests. This story is a coming together of equals and is wonderfully free of needless misunderstandings. I do like it when grown ups just use their words. And revisiting Rada was a treat. It’s science fiction but the world building is deftly inserted and the tech talk comes in occasional and fairly brief snatches. This book stands alone but if you haven’t read the earlier novellas it will leave you hunting for them. – Amazon Review

Fated Blades

An uneasy alliance between warring families gets heated in this otherworldly novella from bestselling author Ilona Andrews.

At first glance, the planet Rada seems like a lush paradise. But the ruling families, all boasting genetically enhanced abilities, are in constant competition for power—and none more so than the Adlers and the Baenas. For generations, the powerful families have pushed and pulled each other in a dance for dominance.

Until a catastrophic betrayal from within changes everything.

Now, deadly, disciplined, and solitary leaders Ramona Adler and Matias Baena must put aside their enmity and work together in secret to prevent sinister forces from exploiting universe-altering technology. Expecting to suffer through their uneasy alliance, Ramona and Matias instead discover that they understand each other as no one in their families can—and that their combined skills may eclipse the risks of their forbidden alliance.

As the two warriors risk their lives to save their families, they must decide whether to resist or embrace the passion simmering between them. For now, the dance between their families continues—but just one misstep could spell the end of them both.

Executive: A Guide to Becoming a Pirate Queen

Executive: A Guide to Becoming a Pirate Queen

Sometimes demon summonings go wrong, and that’s not always a bad thing…

Bryce Virra was a corporate executive in charge of the New Eden mining colony. But when a group of terrorists learn about her illegal weapons research, they decide to put a stop to it by sacrificing her to a demon. It doesn’t go well.

Now, with her captors dead and her secret out, Bryce can no longer rely on the corporation that was protecting her from a dark past. She’ll need to find a ship, form a crew, and learn to navigate the galaxy’s criminal underworld in order to survive.

But first she needs to negotiate a deal with the devil who was summoned to kill her. A deal that could change both of their lives forever.

Content warning: strong profanity, violence, dark themes, kidnapping, torture, alcohol and drug use, implied sexual situations, heavy-handed trauma, mild piracy, poorly executed demon summoning, a rushed sapphic relationship, bad puns, really bad sex puns, dragon crime lords, werewolf gangsters, blatant spoiling of a fictional romance novel, and over representation/normalization of gay and/or queer characters

The Blade’s Memory

March 21, 2022 by Melanie

Once again, Lindsay has drawn me into Sardelle and Ridge’s world, taking me on a journey, this time closer to the age old war between the Cofah and Iskandian nations. The blossoming romance between Cas and Tolemek grows before an accident makes Cas retreat into herself and disappear. The fights and suspense are wonderful and more magic comes into play. – Amazon Review

The Blade’s Memory:
Dragon Blood, Book 5

Ridge, Sardelle, and their comrades may have rescued Tolemek’s sister and freed the dragon, but trouble awaits at home.

The king is missing, a secret organization is hunting sorcerers, and the capital is more vulnerable than ever to enemy attack. Worst of all, at least from Ridge’s point of view, someone put that jackass Colonel Therrik in charge of the flier battalion.

Ridge and his allies have a lot of problems to fix, but they can’t show their faces in the capital without being arrested or shot. This time, it’s going to take a lot more than magic to save the country.

The Blade’s Memory is the fifth installment in the Dragon Blood series.
