Fans of Stone Barrington (count me in) know that each installment in this long running series will see Stone and his buddies, especially Dino Bachetti, the Commissioner of the NYPD, eating, drinking, and off on adventures to thwart bad guys while romancing beautiful women. This is no exception. Stone agrees to transport an important witness to his estate in the UK without knowing who it is. Turns out, it’s Jenna Jacoby, whose ex-husband Senator Wallace Slade wants her dead so that she can’t testify about his connections to- wait for it- Russia. He’s sent Harley, an evil man. after her, which means that Stone has a problem on his hands. Luckily, Stone has a private plane and multiple houses so they can hopscotch their way from Harley but only for so long. Know that Jenna is more than a little annoying at first but, Stone being Stone, there’s steam in the offing. And, when things go bad, one of his buddies will step up. Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC. Probably not a good standalone but those who have followed Stone’s adventures know the drill and will enjoy this one. – Amazon Review
